Building History

Studenberg Law is committed to preserving our community’s history.  Ganon served on the City of Melbourne Historic Preservation Board and completed a renovation and restoration of our 100 year old law office building.

The Studenberg Law Office is located in the Historic Riverview Village Neighborhood, which is Melbourne’s first neighborhood and oldest residential district.  Riverview Village is a neighborhood of old historic homes located between the Indian River bluff and US-1 that stretches north of the Melbourne Causeway four blocks.  This neighborhood was developed around the turn of the century.  The Carleton Hotel, which was the town’s finest hotel was once located across the street from our law office.  Many of the early settlers and the community’s leaders made their homes along this street.  Some of these homes date back to the 1890’s.  Today this neighborhood is intermingled with residential homes and businesses.

Our building was built in 1914 by the Eschbach family from Baltimore, Maryland.  Col. Leon B. Eschbach, M.D. was a early settler of Melbourne.  He was a local doctor and businessman.  He lived in the house until his passing in 1945.  His brother, George F. Eschbach was the city’s first attorney.  Mr. Eschbach’s grandson, Lt. Philip Eschbach currently resides in Cocoa, Florida.
